A set made for Ferdydurke in Melbourne, for the weekly residency continuing into winter. Where I get to have some fun and play around with the spoken / music mix for three hours every Tuesday night.

Playing around the edges of dub, jazz, Latin beat, pop, funk and folk, brasileira, neo-tropicalismo, poesia concreta .. plucking poetry and samples like thoughts out of the air. A theme in the samples expresses itself subconsciously. I don't know much about the book Ferdydurke but I think there might be a suitable element of the absurd in this mix ... This poem, as Muta says, is messing with your mind. Have fun.

The opening poem is Czeslaw Milosz, Nobel Prize winning Polish poet, taken from the seminal United States of Poetry collection made by Bob Holman back in the '90s. Defining the play throughout is Mutabaruka's Dis Poem. Some new and recent cuts - two from Quantic's smooth new album Magneticaa lovely jazz/dub number from Dub Colossus (pre-order the new album, click here); Rafi El, San Francisco rapper/songwriter, from his January album out on Dutty Artz; and from Brazil, Dom La NenaChico DubDJ Kin and Graveola. Also the return of old friends Freak Out Muzik and poesia concreta mestre, Augusto de Campos. Full track listing at the Mixcloud link.
