Now in its fourth year, These Machines Cut Razor Wire is an annual music fundraiser aimed at assisting the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, the Refugee Advocacy Network and the Refugee Action Collective in Australia.
These Machines Cut Razor Wire takes inspiration from Woody Guthrie's "This machines kills fascists" slogan. Les Thomas is a Melbourne musician, activist and writer, and this is his fourth event bringing together musicians in solidarity with those behind the wire in places like the detention centres of Villawood, Nauru, Manus Island.
I am honoured to be able to lend my work to this event, mixing in the breaks of live music from Van Walker, Ruth Lindsey, Little Foot, Les Thomas and many more. They will also be auctioning an absolutely gorgeous guitar made by Jack Spira on the night.
It's happening on Saturday 22 March, from 7.00pm, at the Bella Union Bar in Melbourne's Trades Hall. Tickets are available here.
