A collaboration between Footscray Community Arts Centre’s Collaborate Asia Program and Asia TOPA, Women, Art & Politics is an international residency for visiting visual and performing artists from South and Southeast Asia and Australia.

Led by Leticia Caceres and Jade Lillie, the residency explores the theme Women, Art & Politics, in their local and global contexts and how they impacted their practice and communities. Throughout the two-week residency artists have developed new collaborative works through critical conversations and creative exchanges about what it means to be a woman, in art and politics, in the world today. Outcomes will be shared throughout WOW Melbourne.

Artists include Lena Caminha (Timor Leste), Sadaf Saaz (Bangladesh), Fitriani Dwi Kurniasih (Indonesia), Heather Horrocks (AUS) Lisa Greenaway (AUS), Mallika Taneja (India), Ahmarnya Price (AUS) and Bigoa Chuol (AUS)

As part of WOW Café, the event will feature the launch of their collaborative paste-up work and outcomes of their creative lab. Expect spoken word poetry, sound art, performance and an insight into cross-cultural collaboration.
